Job: Chief Operating Officer, Nyaka
Working in southwestern Uganda, Nyaka uses a unique, holistic, human rights-based approach to work toward ending systemic poverty for more than 43,000 children and the over 7,300 grandmothers raising them. Founded in 2001 with an initial incoming class of 55 primary school students, Nyaka now delivers impact through three programmatic pillars that include education and related support, community support for grandmother empowerment, and advocacy in support of victims of gender-based violence. Nyaka supports over 50,000 people throughout two regions in southwestern Uganda.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as a co-leader and partner to the CEO in setting and executing the organization’s strategic vision. The COO will provide executive oversight to organizational functions including Finance and Administration, Human Resources, Operations and Information Technology, Fundraising and Communications, and others. He or she will have deep knowledge of the field, programs, and the organization’s operating model and will work collaboratively with the CEO to ensure alignment of strategy, programs, and supportive business functions. The COO will manage all domestic functions through their respective directors (where applicable), including Finance, Development, Human Resources, Operations and Information Technology, and others, and will manage Ugandan functions through the Ugandan Country Director.
